Insurance & Billing

Insurance & Billing

At Cendity Health, we want you to focus on your health, not paperwork. As an independent family-medicine practice in Northampton, we work with most major insurance carriers so that you can see our providers with as little hassle as possible. Below you will find the plans we accept, a few notes on coverage and payments, and how to reach us if you have a billing question.

Insurance Plans We Accept

We are pleased to be in-network with most of the major insurers serving Northampton and the Pioneer Valley, including:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts
  • Harvard Pilgrim Health Care
  • Tufts Health Plan
  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Medicare
  • MassHealth

Many of these carriers offer a range of products (HMO, PPO, POS, and employer or exchange plans), and network participation can vary from one plan to the next. If you do not see your specific plan listed, please call our office at (413) 586-2740 and we will be glad to check whether we participate.

Please Verify Your Coverage

Insurance benefits differ from person to person, and the details matter. Before your visit, we encourage you to confirm a few things directly with your insurer, using the member services number on the back of your insurance card:

  • That Cendity Health and your chosen provider are in-network for your specific plan.
  • Whether your plan requires you to select a primary care provider (PCP) and, if so, that one of our providers is listed as your PCP.
  • Whether a referral or prior authorization is needed for the service you are scheduling.
  • The details of your copay, coinsurance, and deductible.

Taking a few minutes to confirm these details ahead of time helps you avoid unexpected costs. If you are unsure about any of it, our front-desk team is happy to help point you in the right direction.

What to Bring to Your Visit

To help us file your claim correctly, please bring the following to every appointment:

  • Your current insurance card (and a secondary card if you have more than one plan).
  • A valid photo ID.
  • Any referral or authorization your plan requires.
  • Your copay, which is collected at the time of your visit.

If your insurance has changed since your last appointment, please let us know when you check in so we can update your record and bill the correct plan.

Financial Policy

We keep our billing straightforward. Here is what to expect:

  • Copays are due at the time of your visit. We accept cash, checks, and major credit and debit cards.
  • After your visit, we submit claims to your insurance carrier on your behalf. Once your plan has processed the claim, any remaining balance, such as coinsurance or an amount applied to your deductible, will be billed to you.
  • You can view statements and make payments securely through our patient portal at portal.cendity.com.
  • If a balance is difficult to pay in full, please reach out. We understand that medical costs can add up, and we are glad to talk through your options.

Patients without insurance are welcome at Cendity Health. Please call us before your appointment so we can review self-pay pricing and payment arrangements with you.

Questions About Your Bill

If a statement is unclear or you think a claim was processed incorrectly, we would rather hear from you than have you worry about it. Our billing team can review your account, explain charges, and help sort out any issues with your insurer.
