An annual physical is a routine checkup with your primary care provider. It’s a chance to review your health, catch problems early, and ask questions. If you haven’t scheduled yours yet, here’s what a typical visit at Cendity Health looks like.
Before your visit
A little preparation goes a long way. Bring a list of all your medications, including vitamins and supplements. Jot down any symptoms or concerns you want to discuss. If you’ve seen a specialist or had tests done elsewhere, ask that office to send us the records ahead of time. You can also review and update your information through our patient portal at portal.cendity.com.
During your visit
Your provider will start by reviewing your medical history and any changes since your last visit. Expect questions about your diet, activity, sleep, stress, and alcohol or tobacco use. These questions aren’t meant to judge. They help build a full picture of your health.
Next comes the physical exam. Depending on your age and history, your provider may check your:
- Height, weight, and blood pressure
- Heart and lungs
- Abdomen
- Skin
- Other areas relevant to your health
Based on your age, sex, and risk factors, your provider may recommend bloodwork, a cholesterol check, vaccines, or other screenings. This is also a good time to raise anything on your mind, from a nagging ache to a family history you’re worried about.
After your visit
If you had lab work, results are usually available within a few days through the patient portal. Your provider will follow up on anything that needs attention. You may leave with a referral, a prescription, or a plan to check back in.
